Q: How does eKey protect my privacy? Does it store my fingerprint?

A: eKey stores a code created from your fingerprint, but not a picture of the fingerprint itself. This provides maximum security protection. An image of your fingerprint can not be re-created from this code. Each time your finger is scanned, the eKey calculates your code and confirms it with the authorised codes it has stalled. Recently, the NSW Privacy Commissioner issued this statement supporting fingerprint security systems.

Q: How many fingerprints can one eKey reader support?

A: The standard eKey can store up to 99 fingerprint codes. These can all be from different users, or multiple fingers can be recorded for each user. Networked eKey models support 200 or even thousands of fingerprints

Q: Can I enrol people over the Internet? Can I connect multiple eKeys together in a network?

A: Yes. The product for this is eKey TOCANet. Users can be enrolled once, and given access to many different locations at once.

Q: Is this a new product? Has it been used successfully in other places?

A: eKey has been available since the late 1990's, and has undergone many improvements to create the most easy-to-use and reliable biometric product on the market. Hundreds of thousands of eKeys are in use around the world. As well as homes, eKeys are used in banks, police stations, prisons, hotels, sports stadiums, industrial machinery, and PC desktops.

Q: What is the biggest eKey installation to date?

A: A steel fabrication plant in Austria has more than 10,000 users.

Q: What if someone chopped my finger off? Could they use it to get into my house?

A: No. eKey uses a thermal sensor, which means that it only works with live fingers.

Q: What if someone had a gun to my head?

A: eKey provides a unique, discreet way out of this very dangerous situation. The 3-Relay eKey can be connected to your security system, and you can enrol a special "distress" finger. If you use this finger, the eKey appears to work normally, but a silent back to base "panic" alarm is triggered.

Q: What if my finger gets injured?

A: The eKey works even if your fingerprint is slightly damaged. In case of more serious damage, you may want to record at least one finger from each hand in the system. You can store 99 finger-prints, if you want to store 10 finger prints from one user, no problem.

Q: What if I am wet from swimming or running? What if I am drunk?

A: The eKey will work fine in these situations. This is not the case for some other biometric technologies, for example optical chip based fingerprint systems or eye scanning technology,

Q: Can I become a reseller for eKey?

A: Yes! Please contact thomasr@ekoimports.com for details of how to become an eKey reseller in Australia, New Zealand, or the Pacific Islands.
